A trip to the Isles of Scilly, why not?
We haven’t been in a while and it’s time we experienced gain the (often) excellent visibility, scenic dives and interesting contemporary and historic wrecks. As they are islands there is usually always a place to dive. As well as that there is plenty going on topside.
The charter is with Dive Scilly for 10 divers and costs £2,950 (£295 each). Deposit to secure the charter is £600 (£60 each). Air is £6 a fill and nitrox not available. To add to this is the cost of travel on the Scillonian which (i think) is around £120 return. Accommodation will be around £180. Accommodation may be an issue near to school holidays but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
Dave (skipper) usually has a half container that we load up in penzance about an hour before sailing. This is lifted onto the quay at St Mary’s and before we go to the accommodation we unload straight to Tuberon (dive boat). You need two full cylinders. Each day’s diving we are out for two dives. The compressor is on the quay so at the end of each day cylinders are taken off the boat and taken to the compressor. Clothes etc for accommodation go in a general container.
