Nemo 33 (Nov 2013)

by Chris.

Friday 29th November – Monday 2nd December, 2013 : A long weekend in Brussels that includes a dive!  How can that be?

Chris H, Chris L, Ian , John, Laurence and Mary took up the challenge & packed their bags to investigate!

Nemo 33 is an indoor 33m deep swimming pool used for SCUBA diving, you can only bring in a mask & a computer (they provide the rest) so flying is a sensible option.

The group flew on the Friday with Brussels Airlines (£100 per person, 1x23kg bag & no meals) giving them an evening to get settled before the diving & the shopping

Nemo-33 is fairly close to the city centre (a short taxi or bus ride) so the group stayed fairly centrally (convenient for the shopping too!)
What was it like? An experience!  Its basically a huge indoor pool with lots of windows around the edge for spectators, so the visibility is perfect, the Nemo part is obvious, while the 33 part of the name refers to the 33 metre tube that goes straight down – the only problem with this is once you’re down & want to come back up you have to fight the hordes who want to be down – you can always hang on to the ladder!
