Ireland Wreck Viewer (May ’18)

The Irish National Monuments Service have published a new wreck viewer that shows the location and information on 18,000+ known and likely wrecks on the Irish coast & inland waterways through visualization of the content in the Wreck Inventory of Ireland Database (WIID).

The visuals offered by this service highlights the density of wrecks on the south east & northern coasts and provides easy navigation to isolate particular areas/wrecks of interest. The service will continue to be developed and enhanced as more information comes to light

The Wreck Inventory of Ireland database provides information on their history, voyage, cargo, passengers and, if known, how they were lost, some dating back to prehistoric logboats to medieval trading vessels, warships and ocean liners.
