Saturday 27th – Monday 29th August, 2011 : A great turnout for this late August Bank Holiday excursion to beautiful Porthkerris in Cornwall – Tim, Mary, Laurence, John, Mike, Jo, Geoff, Chris, Sue R, Duncan, Neil, Bob.
Some of us camped, others caravanned at Little Trevothan http://www.littletrevothan.
The DO had a bit of an armchair role as Geoff took on most of the dive marshalling to finish his Dive Leader qualification! Sadly some members of the group were off colour at various times and missed several dives – I hope you are all now fully recovered.
Dives undertaken in the sunshine & calm waters included The Volnay & the Reef near the Manacles, the Mohegan, the Mouth of the Helford River & a revisit to the Volnay.
The new boat performed beyond expectations and has now taken six divers and a cox with ease. It did not feel crowded and we could even take seven divers at a pinch.
The only downside was the tide which was on springs and made it tricky to get slack water on the more demanding dive sites. Meals were well received, of particular note the one at the Paris Hotel, Coverack on Saturday night where we had the whole party!
Thanks to Laurence/mary and Tim/Jo for towing.
